Position Summary:

Reporting to the Director, Growth and Partnerships, the Senior Manager, Growth & Partnerships serves as a key strategic partner in advancing the Training Division’s mission to expand access to learning across the affordable housing and community development field. This position calls for a mission-driven professional who is passionate about the power of learning and development to strengthen organizations and communities.

Success in this role is defined by excellence in relationship management, consultative partnership, and strategic outreach. The Senior Manager will both deepen existing relationships and cultivate new ones that expand the reach, visibility, and impact of NeighborWorks’ training portfolio. They bring fresh perspective, process improvement, and innovation to a growing division; helping translate NeighborWorks’ offerings into meaningful solutions that meet the needs of a diverse external audience.

Acting as an external ambassador and trusted advisor, the Senior Manager engages with organizations and stakeholders to understand their learning needs and connect them with the most effective NeighborWorks training solutions; whether in person, virtual, or online. The role combines the relational acumen of a customer success professional with the forward-thinking mindset of a business development or resource development leader.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

1. Develop and lead business development and partnership cultivation efforts to increase the reach, participation, impact and revenue goals of NeighborWorks’ training efforts (online and in-person) by strengthening engagement with existing partners and generating new opportunities with external audiences.
2. Serve as the primary point of coordination for online and in-person Group Training requests, engaging in a consultative process with external audiences to understand their learning goals to then recommend the most appropriate NeighborWorks training options. Reviews our portfolio of offerings to identify courses, formats, and delivery modes that best meet partner needs.
3. Collaborate with our Communications and Marketing Division on marketing and outreach campaigns that promote online and in-person Group Trainings and scholarships, raise awareness of NeighborWorks’ training portfolio and maximize awareness and attendance at events.
4. Serve as the primary liaison between external partners and the Office of General Counsel to support contract preparation and execution, ensuring accurate documentation and smooth coordination of training event details.
5. Identify and pursue new partnership or sponsorship opportunities that strengthen NeighborWorks’ visibility, expand participation in training offerings, and contribute to revenue goals.
6. Serve as the primary point of contact and triage for external partners, ensuring inquiries about Group Trainings are directed to the appropriate internal staff. Collaborate with internal teams to align delivery, staffing, and communications so that partner needs are addressed efficiently and consistently.
7. Schedule and monitor consultants to appropriately staff events, maintain high-quality preparation, course delivery, and follow up for Group Trainings.
8. Provide support as needed to the staff performing the daily activities of the online scholarship application and registration system.

9. Ensure all online and in-person business development contract and scholarship contract requirements are met for Group Trainings. Responsible for the reporting of Group Trainings and scholarship activity to funders, Directors, and others as required.
10. Lead the development of grant and contract proposals for cooperative agreements, procurement actions, and other activities geared toward the purchase and delivery of place-based training and scholarships.
11. Other job-related duties as assigned.

Nature of Work Contacts:
NeighborWorks® America Staff and Network Members. External Government, Non-Profit and for-Profit Partners in business and community development. Professionals in the Community Development field pursuing specialized training.

Fiscal Responsibilities:
Receive, prepare, and process all relevant training documentation, including request forms from sponsoring agency, Memorandums of Agreement, invoices, and budgets. 

Required Minimum Qualifications:
(a) Education: College level degree, certification(s) and/or equivalent relevant work experience.

(b) Experience: Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible experience in roles involving partnership development, relationship management, outreach, or client engagement, ideally within a mission-driven, nonprofit, educational, or community-focused organization.
(c) Licenses, Certifications: None required.
(d) Competencies, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Demonstrated analytical capability and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to translate insights into actionable partnership and growth strategies.
  • Skilled in building trust, facilitating dialogue, and representing NeighborWorks with professionalism and credibility.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills: interpersonal/customer service skills for communication with internal staff and funders/partners from diverse backgrounds.
  • Proven ability to manage complex projects and multiple priorities, ensuring the timely and high-quality execution of deliverables across divisions.
  • Adept at improving systems and processes to enhance efficiency, collaboration, and the overall partner experience.
  • Strong work ethic with an enthusiastic, positive attitude, and the highest level of integrity.
  • Demonstrates sound judgment, accountability, and discretion when handling sensitive information or representing the organization externally.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize and coordinate multiple work activities in a fast-paced team and open office environment, maintaining focus on strategic outcomes and ensuring that critical deadlines and partnership commitments are met.
  • Comfortable working independently while exercising initiative and adaptability in a dynamic, evolving environment.

(e) Technology: Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite. Various social media applications.

Preferred Qualifications: Direct business development experience preferred.

Working Conditions:
(a) Travel: Approximately 40%
(b) Physical/Sensory Demands: Fast-paced working environment, extensive computer usage. Attendance at multiple training venues is required which includes significant walking/mobility. Long hours are occasionally required, especially right before and during out-of-office training events and for other priority activities.
(c) Remote

Salary Range: $76,800 - $115,000

The salary offered for the role will be based on a variety of factors, including geographic location, internal equity, and the candidate’s qualifications/professional experience.
