This role plays a key part in advancing modern healthcare data systems by supporting the development and localization of computer-assisted coding technologies used across Canadian healthcare environments. You will contribute directly to improving the accuracy, speed, and consistency of clinical coding by transforming clinical documentation into structured, standardized data. Working at the intersection of healthcare, data, and technology, you will collaborate with product developers, clinical experts, and implementation teams to adapt coding solutions to Canadian classification standards. The position is highly detail-oriented and impactful, supporting large-scale healthcare modernization initiatives that reduce administrative burden and improve data quality. You will also contribute to implementation and training activities, helping hospitals adopt innovative coding tools. Accountabilities:
- Support the development and localization of computer-assisted coding (CAC) solutions for the Canadian healthcare system, ensuring alignment with national coding standards.
- Perform clinical term analysis and map documentation into standardized diagnostic and procedural codes using ICD-10-CA and CCI frameworks.
- Create, validate, and refine auto-suggestion coding logic using specialized platforms and database tools.
- Review and update existing coding structures based on classification changes, user feedback, and quality assurance results.
- Collaborate with product and clinical teams to ensure accurate translation of clinical information into coding logic and system functionality.
- Assist in implementation and training activities for healthcare organizations adopting the coding platform.
- Contribute to ongoing improvements in coding accuracy, system performance, and content quality.
Requirements:
- Certification in Health Information Management (CHIMA certification required).
- Post-secondary education in Health Information Management or a related field with at least 4 years of DAD and NACRS coding experience in healthcare environments, or high school diploma with at least 8 years of equivalent coding experience.
- Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CA, CCI, and Canadian coding standards within acute care hospital settings.
- Experience working with electronic medical record systems such as EPIC, Cerner, or Meditech.
- Solid understanding of clinical documentation processes and healthcare data workflows.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret clinical terminology and translate it into structured coding outputs.
- Excellent written communication skills with strong attention to detail.
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365 tools and ability to work within structured processes and deadlines.
