The Database Administrator II – SQL supports the database environment and ensures its performance, availability, and security. The role develops the logical data model and converts the logical model into the database model. It delivers uptime, performance, and overall health of all databases, as well as supporting systems and infrastructure. The position plans and implements upgrades, ensuring system integrity and ongoing monitoring. This role establishes security protocols, serves as an escalation point for incident management, and forecasts long-range environment roadmaps.
A caregiver in this position works remotely out of Ohio, Florida, or Nevada, Monday – Friday 8:00am—5:00pm, with on-call requirements every 5-weeks.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Ensure availability and performance of databases.
Create both logical and physical data models.
Proactively monitors the database systems to ensure secure services with minimum downtime.
Manage database security.
Responsible for the upgrade and lifecycle of legacy database versions to maintain currency according to standards.
Troubleshoot and problem-solve database development and database production issues.
Fulfillment of incidents and service requests.
Creation of Request for Change (RFC) and presentation to Change Advisory Board (CAB).
Participation in rotating on-call schedules.
Develop and updates process documentation.
Creation of standards with respect to the database environments.
Forecast long range environment roadmaps.
Mentor junior team members.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or Business Administration.
Additional progressively responsible work experience in IT or related field/industry may offset the degree requirement.
Minimum five years of experience supporting databases in a large production environment.
Strong understanding of database structures, theories, principles, and practices.
Demonstrated experience with creating innovative solutions to solve complex problems.
Well versed with scripting and/or coding across various databases.
Practical experience in managing internal and external database security.
Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
For Information Technology Division caregivers, ITIL Foundations certification is within 6 months of the position start date.
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Experience working with cloud environments. (Azure, AWS, etc)
Relevant certification with database
Physical Requirements:
Ability to perform work in a stationary position for extended periods.
Ability to travel throughout the hospital system.
Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment.
Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
The position must be available after hours for support by pager and computer dial-in.
