Job Summary & Description:
Empowered Services is seeking compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to join our team. In this role, you will build meaningful relationships that inspire confidence, promote independence, and support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in living fulfilling, joyful lives.


As a DSP, you will work one-on-one with each customer to understand their unique needs, support them in achieving their goals, and provide care in a positive, encouraging, and safe environment. Our DSPs serve not only as caregivers but also as mentors, advocates, and trusted companions for the individuals we support.


308: We are seeking a thoughtful, patient, and encouraging Direct Support Professional to work with a young adult who is focused on building independence at his own pace. This role is ideal for someone who understands how to offer support without hovering, and someone who can be present, calm, and respectful while empowering choice and autonomy.


This individual values personal space and does not want to feel “parented.” He is looking for a provider who can encourage community outings and new preferred activities when he is open to them, while also being comfortable staying nearby during quieter days when he prefers to spend time in his room.


His mother works during the day and is hoping to find someone who can be a steady, supportive presence in the home, helping him take care of himself, explore independence, and feel safe. 


Schedule: Mon/Wed/Fri approx. 10:00 AM–4:00 PM+ (flexible start & end time). 


Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Experience with the I/DD community is preferred but not required. 
  • Must pass a background check. - *Not all charges will warrant a disqualification.
  • Must be 18 years or older with a high school diploma or equivalent.  
  • Must have a valid driver’s license, with a good driving record. 
  • Must have your own reliable vehicle, with full coverage auto insurance.
  • Must be comfortable providing respectful support with personal care, including bathroom and hygiene.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Starting pay ranges from $23–$25 per hour, depending on a variety of factors, including experience, certifications, and skills.
  • Full-Time (30+ hours a week) employees are eligible for:

Roles & Responsibilities:

  1. Lead with Integrity and Kindness – Show honesty, reliability, and a positive attitude in every interaction, creating a trusting and supportive environment.
  2. Support Daily Living with Care – Assist customers with activities such as nutrition, hygiene, exercise, communication, social skills, behavioral supports, mobility, transportation, and household tasks—helping them thrive every day.
  3. Create Fun and Engaging Schedules – Collaborate with customers to plan daily routines, outings, and exciting community events that bring joy and connection.
  4. Empower Customers to Reach Goals – Encourage and guide customers in achieving their personal goals, tracking progress, and sharing insights with their County Coordinator.
  5. Encourage Growth and Exploration – Foster skill development, hobbies, interests, and community engagement, helping customers build confidence and independence.
  6. Build Meaningful Connections – Develop genuine relationships, creating a sense of belonging and helping customers recognize their value and voice in the community.
  7. Communicate Proactively – Keep in touch with County Coordinators and report updates or concerns promptly, ensuring smooth and supportive care.
  8. Prioritize Health and Safety – Follow all safety and wellness protocols to maintain a secure and comfortable environment for customers.
  9. Stay Trained and Informed – Complete required state training and certifications, keeping your skills sharp and your care up-to-date.
  10. Make a Positive Difference Every Day – Approach each day with compassion, patience, and understanding. Serve as a mentor, advocate, and companion, bringing encouragement, laughter, and meaningful support to customers’ lives.
