SUMMARY
Work is performed for the United States Coast Guard (USCG) Surface Forces Logistics Center (SFLC) Engineering Services Division (ESD) Electronic & Ordnance Branch (EOB) Electronics Section (ELEX). Perform engineering reviews and analysis for revisions to existing and installation of new electronics systems for SFLC Product Lines (PL) and C5I Service Center (C5ISC) systems.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Includes the following:
Perform engineering reviews and analysis for revisions to existing and installation of new electronics systems for SFLC PL and C5ISC systems.
Review engineering changes for impact on ships service and emergency power systems.
Perform voltage drop calculations.
Provide engineering and technical efforts applicable to support existing vessels including the following and related items:
Cutter electronics configuration and arrangement
Interface of electronic equipment to shipboard electrical systems
Interior and Exterior communications systems
Command and Control systems
Navigation systems
Navy Type, Navy Owned (NTNO) systems
Any Coast Guard funded systems as required.
Attend meetings and conferences.
Reports directly to the Project Manager.
SUPERVISORY/MANAGEMENT AUTHORITY
No supervisory or management authority.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Minimum education requirement of a bachelor’s degree in electrical or electronics engineering or associated degrees with approval from the COR.
Possess general naval engineering knowledge including Hull, Mechanical, Electrical (HM&E) as well as electronic components and systems.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Have experience with general technical drawing practices and procedures.
Possess the ability to read and interpret electronics technical drawings.
USCG or US Navy technical drawing practices and procedures experience preferred.
Maritime or marine experience preferred.
Experience with the interpretation and application of commercial and military standards to USCG shipboard electrical systems
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Pass a drug screen and federal background check is mandatory.
Ability to obtain SECRET level clearance upon direction of the USCG.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is performed on-site with the Coast Guard in Glen Burnie, MD.
