The Human Resources Associate will liaise with other KI Human Resources teams from around the world to help create and implement best practices for our people in Canada, as well as act as the administrator for the programs going forward working closely with our Finance team. You will also play an important role in the evolution of our current people policies and procedures, assisting the transition from ‘start up’ to an established maturing business unit.
We’re looking for an autonomous and energetic team member who wants to have a big impact on our organisation during this exciting time of building and growing and be a strategic driver of our talent and successes going forward. Working days and hours are flexible and this is a part time role initially (0.4 – 0.6 FTE), with the scope to grow as our teams do.
Location, start date and hours
This is a remote role that can be located in any of these three provinces within Canada (British Columbia, Alberta, or Ontario) and is suited to someone who can commence in the role April 2026. This role is part time with the potential for full time as the organisation grows. Part time hours and working days are negotiable, with an expectation of 0.4 – 0.6 FTE being most suitable initially.

Main responsibilities and functions:
Reporting to the Vice President of Kaplan International Pathways Canada, the Human Resources Associate will be responsible for:
Overseeing the recruitment and onboarding processes to ensure a seamless integration of new employees in close cooperation with KIPC managers
Supporting a recruitment strategy to attract and retain high-performing individuals to continue to enable rapid growth within the organization
Working closely with the Vice President, Canada to create a distinctive employee value proposition for our team in Canada, aligned with KI’s broader values and goals
Working closely with the managers to manage and monitor employee performance to foster professional growth and development
Developing, implementing, and maintaining Human Resources policies and procedures for both federally and provincially regulated operations
Administering employee benefits program and liaising with KI finance teams regarding payroll requirements
Staying up to date, communicating and implementing relevant legislative changes
Ensuring the thorough and timely completion of the onboarding process for all new hires
Working with other departments to develop regular onboarding requirements for new roles
Working with the KIPC leadership to ensure the total compensation program (pay, benefits and related compensatory items) remains competitive in relation to local/provincial market conditions
Supporting Health and Safety efforts to maintain and enhance our safe and healthy work environments
Developing offboarding strategies to ensure best practices are followed for a graceful separation during voluntary departures
Participate in KI global initiatives and committees as appropriate, including feeding into critical initiatives and ongoing programs such as our commitment to DEI and sustainability
Performing other related duties as agreed upon
Qualifications you will need to be considered for the role:
A post-secondary degree within a relevant field of study (HR, psychology)
2+ years of progressive Human Resources experience
To be comfortable working autonomously and hands-on across general areas of HR
Experience creating policies and processes
In-depth knowledge of both provincial (BC, AB, MB) and Canadian federal labour legislation
Knowledge and understanding of other related HR legislation
Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and discretion on all matters
Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills
Strong attention to detail
A team player with a preparedness to work together in a growth phase to achieve an outcome

Remuneration and benefits
Remuneration will be dependent on your experience; however, you can expect a base salary of between $65,000-$75,000 CAD pro-rated, per annum. We also offer a range of benefits including 4 weeks of annual leave (pro-rated), extended health and dental care plan, employer matched retirement benefits and more.
