This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Lead Quality Engineer, Design Services based in United States.

This is a hands-on quality engineering leadership role focused on ensuring the reliability and performance of a high-impact Clienteling application.
You will define the overall testing strategy, strengthen automation capabilities, and help embed quality throughout the software development lifecycle.
The role combines deep expertise in mobile and API testing with technical leadership and mentorship of other quality engineers.
You will work closely with Engineering, Product, and cross-functional teams to manage risk, improve release readiness, and deliver reliable software.
A major focus will be building scalable automation using modern frameworks and integrating robust testing into CI/CD pipelines.
You will also use quality data and defect insights to identify improvement opportunities and continuously raise engineering standards.
This is a fully remote, individual-contributor position with significant technical leadership and mentoring responsibilities.

Accountabilities

  • Define, own, and execute comprehensive test strategies and plans for the Clienteling application ecosystem, ensuring alignment with product requirements and iterative Agile delivery.
  • Lead quality engineering activities for complex initiatives spanning multiple Agile teams, integrations, and application touchpoints.
  • Architect, design, maintain, and oversee scalable and reliable test automation frameworks for mobile and API testing.
  • Drive adoption and effective use of XCUITest for UI automation and Playwright for API testing, with strong integration into CI/CD pipelines and a focus on minimizing flaky tests.
  • Partner with Engineering and Product leaders to understand requirements, establish clear acceptance criteria, assess risks, and embed quality throughout the development process.
  • Lead, mentor, and support junior and mid-level quality engineers, helping develop their technical capabilities while fostering a collaborative engineering culture.
  • Coordinate and allocate work across the QE team while providing technical direction and constructive feedback.
  • Own the complete defect lifecycle, including triage, prioritization, tracking, resolution, and communication with Product and Development teams.
  • Serve as the primary quality engineering point of contact for stakeholders, providing clear risk assessments and recommendations regarding release readiness.
  • Establish quality engineering standards, best practices, metrics, and processes across teams and projects.
  • Analyze quality and testing data to identify recurring issues, improvement opportunities, and corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure consistent quality across complex customer-facing experiences.
  • Monitor emerging testing technologies, tools, and methodologies and recommend improvements that strengthen the team's ability to deliver high-quality software.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field is preferred.
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in Quality Engineering, Software Testing, or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience leading quality initiatives for significant, complex, and cross-functional software projects.
  • Demonstrated experience mentoring and guiding quality engineers and providing technical leadership within a QE organization.
  • Extensive experience developing, implementing, and maintaining test automation strategies and frameworks.
  • Strong expertise in mobile application testing and API automation, ideally within customer-facing retail, POS, Clienteling, CRM, or similar applications.
  • Hands-on experience with XCUITest for iOS UI automation and Playwright for API or web testing.
  • Strong understanding of CI/CD integration, automated testing practices, defect management, and modern quality engineering methodologies.
  • Experience defining test plans, acceptance criteria, risk assessments, and release-readiness processes in Agile environments.
  • Strong knowledge of iOS application deployment processes, including TestFlight and App Store Connect.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to balance hands-on technical execution with leadership, mentoring, and strategic quality ownership.
  • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to use quality metrics and testing data to drive continuous improvement.
