R&D Design Engineer, SW

We are expanding our R&D footprint to Pune, India, and as a first step in this process we are looking for a talented and motivated Design Engineer to support us in developing world-class software solutions for our automation systems. As a Design Engineer, you will develop productized Industrial Applications and tools that support our engineering processes in Valmet DNAe deliveries. You are responsible for coherent product development, and the effective use of common tools and working methods. In the product development work you ensure that all designs and technical solutions meet agreed quality, performance, and maintainability standards. You might not be a professional software developer yet, but you understand well the content, context, and use cases of our DNA applications. Implementation of the agreed tasks involves a lot of independence but is all the time done with support and close co-operation with the local and global team members. This means that ability to lead your own work and willingness and skills to communicate in the global environment are mandatory.

Expectations:

• Minimum 3 years of experience in Application Engineering using Valmet DNA Engineering tools. Relevant experience can be gained as project engineer, service engineer, or in other similar roles.

•  University degree in Automation, Computer Science, or a related field 

•  Solution and development-oriented mindset

•  Excellent command of English, both spoken and written 

In addition, if you have any of the following skills, they are very beneficial in learning the new role:

• Practical knowledge of agile software development practices

• Experience in tools such as Jira, Confluence, Git (Bitbucket) or CI tools like Jenkins

• Experience in Python, JavaScript or TypeScript or in building Excel add-ins
