Position Overview
The Remote IT Systems Administrator will be responsible for managing the organization’s technology infrastructure, ensuring smooth daily operations across multiple healthcare locations. This role provides technical support to staff, manages user accounts, oversees hardware and software setup, and ensures compliance with HIPAA and other healthcare data security standards.
The ideal candidate is proactive, resourceful, and experienced with Google Workspace (Gmail, Drive, Meet, Calendar, Admin Console), cloud-based VoIP systems (e.g., RingCentral, Zoom Phone, or 8x8), and secure onboarding/offboarding processes.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Support & Help Desk
- Serve as the primary point of contact for IT-related support requests, providing Tier 1 and Tier 2 troubleshooting for hardware, software, and network issues.
- Manage ticketing systems to document, prioritize, and resolve issues in a timely manner.
- Provide remote and onsite support for laptops, desktops, mobile devices, and peripheral equipment.
System Administration
- Administer and maintain Google Workspace accounts including user provisioning, email aliases, group permissions, and access control.
- Configure and manage cloud-based phone systems (e.g., RingCentral, Zoom Phone, Vonage) including call routing, voicemail setup, and user extensions.
- Monitor and manage access to internal applications such as EHR systems, project management tools, and telehealth platforms.
- Ensure devices are properly enrolled in Mobile Device Management (MDM) and maintain endpoint security standards.
Onboarding & Offboarding
- Coordinate new employee IT setup including email creation, software licensing, phone extension assignment, and access permissions.
- Conduct orientation on basic IT processes, cybersecurity best practices, and remote access.
- Deactivate accounts, collect hardware, and secure data when employees separate from the organization.
Network & Security
- Collaborate with leadership and vendors to maintain secure VPN and remote access connections.
- Perform regular audits of system access and ensure compliance with HIPAA, HITECH, and internal data security policies.
- Implement multi-factor authentication (MFA), password policies, and encryption standards across all systems.
- Assist with disaster recovery and backup procedures to maintain data integrity.
Hardware, Software & Vendor Management
- Install, configure, and maintain company laptops, desktops, and office equipment.
- Maintain inventory of all IT assets and licenses.
- Coordinate with third-party vendors for hardware purchases, internet service, and telecommunications support.
- Evaluate new software tools to improve organizational efficiency and interoperability.
Qualifications
Required:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in IT support, preferably in a healthcare or HIPAA-regulated environment.
- Proficiency in Google Workspace Admin Console, RingCentral or similar VoIP systems, and cloud-based platforms.
- Experience with Active Directory / Azure AD, endpoint protection, and mobile device management tools (e.g., Intune, JumpCloud, or Kandji).
- Strong understanding of network protocols, VPN, and remote access troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of HIPAA compliance, data encryption, and secure access control.
Preferred:
- CompTIA A+, Network+, or Security+ certification.
- Experience supporting EHR/EMR platforms and telehealth systems.
- Prior experience with Okta, Slack, or Microsoft Teams administration.
- Familiarity with single sign-on (SSO), MFA configuration, and cloud identity management.
