The Opportunity:
SharePoint Administrator with Microsoft 365 Support
I. Role Summary
Ensures the stability, security, and efficiency of the SharePoint Online and Microsoft 365 environment supporting healthcare revenue cycle operations. Administers collaboration and content platforms that enable accurate data processing, secure information sharing, and compliance with healthcare regulations. Contributes to operational continuity by maintaining service performance across SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive, and Exchange Online, and by resolving technical issues promptly.

III. Essential Job Functions
Platform Administration
Provide administration and technical support for M365 SharePoint Online, SharePoint on-premises, and Microsoft Teams environments. Manage and maintain site content and structure settings, site hierarchy, and site collection navigation. Manage site collections and subsites in SharePoint Online per approved service requests. Configure and administer SharePoint and automate recurring administrative tasks. Help define and build Microsoft Teams administrative procedures. Support OneDrive for Business sync issues and troubleshoot related user-side problems. Test and implement new features in the SharePoint on-premises environment prior to production release.
Information Architecture and Reporting
Design, configure, manage, and maintain site collection, site, and list-level usage reports and usability analysis. Help design, configure, and maintain enterprise taxonomy, terms, and keywords for the term store. Allocate additional storage quota to site collections as they approach the default maximum storage limit, and monitor tenant storage consumption against targets.
Security, Identity, and Compliance
Administer permissions models, SharePoint and Microsoft 365 group membership, and external/guest sharing controls in alignment with least-privilege principles. Assist with and monitor SharePoint related sensitivity labels, retention labels and policies, DLP rules, and information barriers to protect PHI and other regulated data in accordance with HIPAA and internal policy. Â Remediate oversharing, orphaned sites, and inactive workspaces through recurring review cycles; support eDiscovery, legal hold, and audit log requests.
Governance and Lifecycle
Recommend and implement governance techniques for Microsoft Teams and SharePoint environments. Collaborate with the M365 Administrator and peers to establish governance processes for Microsoft Teams. Execute site provisioning, ownership assignment, archiving, and decommissioning workflows, including standard user notifications prior to archive or deletion actions. Maintain versioning constraints and site quota standards as foundational administrative guardrails.
Automation, Migration, and Continuity
Develop and maintain PowerShell (PnP, SharePoint Online Management Shell, Microsoft Graph) scripts to automate reporting, bulk permissions changes, and lifecycle actions. Build and support Power Automate flows and Power Apps solutions built on SharePoint lists and libraries. Plan and execute content migrations and tenant-to-tenant or on-premises-to-cloud moves using approved tooling. Execute backup, retention, and recovery procedures for SharePoint and Microsoft 365 content to protect critical data and minimize downtime. Monitor Microsoft 365 service health and message center advisories; assess impact of upcoming changes and communicate to stakeholders.
Support and Documentation
Work tickets and service requests for SharePoint Online, M365 Enterprise SharePoint, and on-premises environments, meeting SLAs in the ITSM system. Troubleshoot issues and provide end-user support across SharePoint Online, M365 Enterprise SharePoint, and on-premises environments. Update documentation and verify the validity and accuracy of documentation used by end users, site owners, and administrators. Maintain change records and configuration documentation to ensure audit readiness; follow enterprise change management processes for production changes. Collaborate with internal teams to support content management needs and resolve technical challenges. Deliver end-user enablement and adoption guidance for SharePoint and Microsoft 365 applications. Participate in on-call rotation and after-hours maintenance windows as required.
IV. Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Three to five years administering SharePoint in an enterprise environment.
- Demonstrated experience with Microsoft 365 admin centers, Microsoft Entra ID, Microsoft Purview, Teams administration, and PowerShell scripting.
- Working knowledge of ITSM/ticketing processes and SLA-driven support delivery.
- Experience in a HIPAA-regulated or other highly regulated environment preferred.
- This position pays between $76,300 and $114,450 based on experience.
V. Certifications
Required
- MS-102: Microsoft 365 Administrator Expert — tenant administration, identity, security, and compliance; the core credential for this role.
- MS-900: Microsoft 365 Fundamentals — baseline platform knowledge; expected if MS-102 is not yet held.
Preferred
- SC-400: Information Protection and Compliance Administrator Associate — sensitivity labels, DLP, and retention, directly relevant to PHI and HIPAA obligations.
- SC-300: Identity and Access Administrator Associate — Microsoft Entra ID, conditional access, and permission governance.
- MS-700: Teams Administrator Associate — Teams-connected SharePoint sites and collaboration workloads.
- AZ-104: Azure Administrator Associate — useful where SharePoint integrates with Azure services and automation.
- PL-900: Power Platform Fundamentals — supports Power Automate and Power Apps solutions built on SharePoint.
