cFocus Software seeks a Sr. Systems Administrator (Unix/Linux) to join our program supporting the Department of Defense (DoD). This position is remote. This position requires the ability to obtain a Top Secret/SCI clearance.

Qualifications:
  • Six (6) years of professional experience in Unix and/or Linux system administration of networks and software systems.
  • Experience in system backup and recovery; basic software management; security management and library management; installation and configuration of hardware; operational systems and COTS software; operating computer systems in different operating environments; and sizing, performance, tuning, hardware/software/network trouble shooting and resource allocation.
  • Qualified experience in different network protocols including TCP/IP and major network security tools such as: firewalls, knowledge of computing and networking vulnerabilities, attach methods and latest detection methods.
  • Active DoD IAT Level III certification
Duties:
 
  • Administer, maintain, and optimize Unix/Linux servers to ensure high availability and performance.
  • Perform system installations, upgrades, and patches in accordance with approved change control procedures.
  • Monitor system performance and capacity, identifying and resolving technical issues proactively.
  • Manage and maintain user accounts, permissions, and access controls in compliance with DoD security policies.
  • Implement and monitor system backups, disaster recovery, and business continuity processes.
  • Develop and maintain system documentation, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and configuration baselines.
  • Support integration of Unix/Linux systems with other enterprise platforms and applications.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex system and network issues, escalating as necessary to engineering teams.
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity personnel to ensure systems meet compliance requirements such as STIGs and RMF controls.
  • Assist with vulnerability scanning, patch validation, and remediation efforts to maintain system security posture.
  • Participate in system audits, inspections, and accreditation activities as required by the PWS.
  • Provide Tier III support and mentorship to junior administrators and technical support personnel.
  • Perform system monitoring and generate operational reports on uptime, capacity, and incident metrics.
  • Support automation efforts using scripting languages (e.g., Bash, Python, Ansible) to streamline administrative tasks.
  • Participate in after-hours maintenance windows and on-call rotations to support mission-critical systems.
