This role offers the opportunity to build and optimize near real-time data pipelines that directly impact operational reporting and decision-making. As a Staff Data Engineer, you will design and implement scalable, fault-tolerant systems for ingesting, processing, and delivering data to support dashboards, analytics, and operational workflows. You will work closely with cross-functional teams including product managers, business analysts, and data scientists to transform complex event streams into actionable insights. This position emphasizes innovation, low-latency performance, and data quality, while providing a platform for influencing technical strategy and mentoring team members. Your work will ultimately help improve patient outcomes and support the mission of advancing mental healthcare.
Accountabilities
- Design, build, and maintain robust ETL/ELT pipelines for operational reporting using tools such as Kafka, Airflow, Dagster, dbt, and Glue.
- Implement scalable data architectures for near real-time analytics using Apache Flink and Spark Streaming.
- Optimize data pipelines and warehouses for low-latency performance, reliability, and cost-efficiency.
- Ensure high-quality, accurate, and compliant data for operational dashboards and analytics.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business needs into data solutions.
- Establish and enforce data governance practices, including lineage tracking, metadata management, and regulatory compliance (HIPAA, CPRA).
Requirements- 8+ years of experience designing and maintaining data pipelines, including operational reporting and analytics.
- Strong proficiency in Python and SQL for data transformation, validation, and quality checks.
- Extensive experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred) and data warehousing solutions such as Redshift, Snowflake, or BigQuery.
- Expertise in streaming architectures, including Kafka, Flink, or Spark Streaming.
- Strong understanding of data quality, governance, security, and compliance standards.
- Experience optimizing pipelines and large-scale datasets for efficiency, scalability, and low-latency delivery.
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform or CloudFormation.
- Hands-on experience supporting ML/LLM pipelines, feature engineering, and unstructured data workflows.
- Knowledge of CI/CD for data pipelines and orchestration tools like Airflow or Dagster.
- Experience managing transitions from micro-batching to near real-time streaming architectures.
