NCSC is looking for an experienced individual for the position of Vice-President of Finance and Administration to join our executive team. Reporting directly to the President/CEO, the VP of Finance and Administration brings high-level financial and budgetary expertise, strong operational acumen, and a collaborative mindset to guide strategic resource allocation, long-term planning, and institutional transformation. This role champions data-driven decision-making and fosters a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement, ensuring alignment with organizational goals. Additionally, the VP of Finance and Administration must have experience in managing a diverse portfolio of administrative functions, including human resources, facilities, information technology, contracts, compliance, and related activities.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Possess a strong knowledge of non-profit accounting practices and standards with a strong understanding of government, foundation, and direct contracting and managing complex revenue streams. 
  • Drives strategic resource allocation by leveraging data and financial analysis to inform critical decisions and optimizes the use of resources across departments. Provides strategic financial planning and forecasting by capturing and analyzing data to inform financial decisions and recommendations and to drive accountability. 
  • Oversees and leads the comprehensive annual budgeting and planning process, collaborating with departmental leadership to create and manage budgets. 
  • Conducts thorough financial forecasting and presents timely, accurate financial reports to the executive leadership team and the Board of Directors. 
  • Oversees the production of monthly revenue and expenditure reports to the executive leadership team to monitor budget status.   Prepares recommendations to executive leadership if course correction is warranted.
  • Serves as the primary point of contact for the Board’s Audit Committee and manages the relationship with external auditors.
  • Serves as the primary point of contact for the Board’s Finance and Investment Committees, presents the annual budget to the Board for approval, and provides regular updates on "Actual vs. Budget" performance.
  • Ensures proper accounting procedures are followed while budget targets are maintained. Controls the flow of cash through the organization and maintains the integrity of funds. 
  • Solid experience overseeing management of facilities. Experience managing the implementation of new systems, software, and working with information technology staff.
  • Functions as the leader responsible for the management of risk management, and compliance with audit, legal, contracts, procurement, donor requirements, and federal and state regulations. Oversees contracts, manages insurance, and manages relationships with auditors and external legal counsel.
  • Demonstrates conduct that upholds the basic Core Values of NCSC. 
  • Supervisory responsibilities include interviewing, onboarding, training, timesheet approval, time off approval, workflow oversight, establishing goals, performance management, and managing performance improvement plans if needed 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA or advanced degree preferred. 
  • 10+ years’ of related fiscal administrative experience. Experience with the responsibility of budgets over $75 million annually preferred.
  • Must have experience managing a diverse portfolio of administrative functions, including HR, facilities, IT, contracts, and compliance 
  • Successfully demonstrated supervisory experience of a team of professionals.
  • Strong strategic and analytical ability, including experience in accounting, budget development, cost/benefit analysis, financial applications, and accounting systems. 
  • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities. 
  • Demonstrated ability to perform duties with professional integrity and sound judgment while managing competing demands.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously and commitment to driving innovation, leveraging technology and best practices, and upholding the highest standards of quality.  
  • CFO experience preferred.
  • State court experience or familiarity preferred. 

Additional Skills & Abilities

  • Considerable knowledge of accounting principles, financial regulations, and tax issues, including GAAP.
  • Experience/familiarity working in automatic financial/accounting systems; Deltek-CostPoint, a plus.
  • Experience with risk management, investments, and legal compliance.
  • Excellent communication, team leadership, and relationship management with staff, Board, and external partners. 
  • Proficiency in MS Office: Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.

The annual starting salary for this role is between $195,000 - $219,000. Factors that affect starting pay within the range include education, experience, and other qualifications as they relate to the position.
