Overview

The Acquisition Support Specialist provides acquisition and procurement support services to the Department of the Interior (DOI), Indian Affairs (IA) Central Office in support of programs administered by the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) and Bureau of Indian Education (BIE). This role supports federal acquisition activities under the Business Support Services (BSS) IDIQ and is designated as Key Personnel. The position requires demonstrated experience supporting federal acquisition processes, compliance with the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), and coordination with contracting officials in a highly regulated environment.


Place of Performance/Hours of Operation

The Acquisition Support Specialist will provide services in a remote capacity (i.e., professional home office), Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., except for federal holidays.


Summary of Responsibilities 

The Acquisition Support Specialist will provide professional acquisition support services to ensure timely, compliant, and effective procurement actions for Indian Affairs programs. Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Supporting federal acquisition activities in accordance with FAR, DIAR, and DOI/Indian Affairs policies and procedures.
  • Assisting Contracting Officers and acquisition personnel with pre-award and post-award procurement support tasks.
  • Supporting preparation, review, and coordination of acquisition documentation, including RFQs/RFPs, task orders, modifications, and supporting files.
  • Providing acquisition support for labor-hour task orders issued under the BSS IDIQ.
  • Assisting with evaluation support activities, including resume and technical documentation reviews aligned to Statement of Work requirements.
  • Supporting coordination related to task order administration, deliverable tracking, and compliance monitoring.
  • Participating in acquisition planning activities and supporting communication between government stakeholders and contractors.
  • Maintaining accurate records and documentation in compliance with federal acquisition and records management requirements.


Qualifications

The Acquisition Support Specialist must demonstrate qualifications and experience aligned with the Statement of Work requirements, including:

  • Experience providing federal acquisition or procurement support.
  • Working knowledge of the FAR and applicable DOI/DIAR acquisition policies.
  • Experience supporting labor-hour, task order–based contracts.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for acquisition documentation.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools and coordination with Contracting Officers and CORs.


Security

Employment is contingent upon the ability to pass the pre-employment drug test and a federal security investigation (background check) in order to obtain a U.S. Department of the Interior Public Trust clearance prior to start date. The background investigation reviews employment, criminal, financial, and personal history to ensure there are no outstanding violations. Applicants must be a U.S. Citizen to work in support of a federal agency.
