Community Support Worker – Mental Health ( South Coogee)
Sydney Health & Care Services (SHCS) is growing across Greater Sydney. We're looking for reliable Community Support Workers who can support participants living with mental health challenges — including complex behaviours and dual diagnosis (drug & alcohol).
Start casual with steady hours; part-time contracts and growth available once your client base is established and your reliability is proven.
About Participant:
- Male participant with diagnosed with schizophrenia and has a history of medication non-compliance.
- History of alcohol use prior to hospital admission, alcohol dependency - does drink but has not been flagged as a significant concern
- Heavy smoker and smokes in presence of support workers at home
- Very disorganised and occasional delusional thoughts
Shifts:
Monday to Sunday 7.30am to 10.30am, 4.30pm to 7.30pm - assistance with daily living activities
CP supports:
Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday - 1pm to 3pm
What you'll do
- Supervision and prompting of medication administration
- Establishing and maintaining daily routines
- Meal prompting and basic meal preparation
- Appointment attendance and organisation
- Gradual development of independent living skills
- Take participant to his Depot injections and blood test appointments
What you bring

A reliable car with comprehensive insurance (mandatory), full unrestricted Australian driver's licence, and willingness to travel across Sydney
- Proven reliability, professionalism, and excellent communication
- Minimum 6 months experience in mental health, disability support, or community services (or Certificate IV in Mental Health)
- Calm under pressure; strong judgment and boundaries
- Smartphone literacy for rostering and documentation
Must-have compliance (or willing to obtain)
- NDIS Worker Screening Check
- Working With Children Check (NSW)
- First Aid & CPR
- Police Check
- Unrestricted work rights in Australia
- Preferred: Certificate III/IV in Community Services, Mental Health, or related field (or equivalent experience)
