Hours: 8:00AM - 5:00PM

The primary purpose of this position is to provide guidance to customers regarding development process matters. Duties include creating and maintaining schedules and turnaround times for various steps in the development process, coordination of development process consultations, monitoring and reporting on review turnarounds for all departments involved in the development process, investigating and resolving concerns pertaining to development projects, and management of special projects and process improvements.  

Duties/Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Monitor and facilitate resolution of technical and operational issues related to the development process.
  • Provide development process guidance.
  • Monitor and report on review turnaround times for all groups involved in the Development Review Process.
  • Serve as primary lead and/or project facilitator on identified special development projects.
  • Serve as a point of contact and advocate for development customers.
  • Provide communications, including web content, regarding the development process.
  • Gather facts and data relating to concerns brought forward related to development matters.
  • Coordinate with development review groups to produce resolutions, and communicate resolutions back to the customer.
  • Identify opportunities to create new or revise existing policies, procedures and standard practices.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • Knowledge of the development review process from Preliminary Plan Review to Certificate of Occupancy.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Experience with data tracking and analysis.
  • Strong project management/organizational skills.
  • Problem solving skills as it pertains to the development process.
  • Development Tracking Software experience.
  • Experience with Blue Beam software.

Minimum Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in planning, engineering, construction project management, or a directly related field OR equivalent experience.
  • Five years of experience with the local government and/or private sector.
  • Valid unrestricted North Carolina Class C Driver’s License with a satisfactory driving record, or if licensed in another state, willing and able to obtain one within 60 days of hire.
