Introduction

Learning Online Group runs a portfolio of online education brands across Australia, Canada, New Zealand and the United Kingdom, teaching beauty, photography, animal and wildlife care, and agriculture and horticulture. Thousands of students find us through social media, so what goes on our feeds matters.

We are looking for a social designer to own creative across the whole group. You will report directly to our Head of Marketing, with a senior designer and senior editor on hand for approvals and a second opinion.

If you design for feed and story first, love building systems that make good work fast, and want real ownership of how a group of brands looks online, we would love to hear from you.

Duties & Responsibilities

This is a hands-on role in a small team that ships constantly. Your first job is building the systems: locked, reusable template sets for every brand. Once those are in place, you will be producing social creative at pace across all of them.

What you will be doing:

  • Designing and building social template systems per brand: carousel sets, quote cards, tip series and story frames

  • Producing social creative across all group brands, every week

  • Updating supporting collateral such as kit sheets and brochures

  • Keeping your Monday.com board current and logging time against each asset, which is how we keep visibility across a remote team

The people who do well here take a brief and run with it, and proof their own work before anyone else sees it.

Desired Experience & Qualification

Some of our best designers have backgrounds such as:

  • Social or digital design at agencies like Joe Public, Ogilvy South Africa or TBWA\Hunt\Lascaris

  • In-house social teams at retail and e-commerce brands such as Takealot, Mr Price or Superbalist

  • Online education or e-learning content teams

  • Freelance social design for multiple brands at once

What matters most is:

  • Around four to five years designing for social media. You design natively for feed and story, not adapting print layouts

  • Strong command of Adobe Creative Suite or Canva for social, whichever you are strongest in

  • InDesign for brochures and collateral

  • Experience building locked, reusable Canva templates at Brand Kit level

  • Working knowledge of light motion in Premiere, After Effects or Canva

  • A sharp eye for detail. Once you know our brands, you will spot a floristry question sitting in a beauty carousel

  • Confidence using AI day to day. We use Claude across the team, and Claude Cowork experience is a strong advantage

  • Organised file and version management

  • Clear written English, because most briefing and feedback happens in writing across timezones

A portfolio is essential. It tells us more than any CV can.

Package & Remuneration

Package and Remuneration

  • R25,000 to R32,000 per month, depending on experience

  • Independent contractor engagement, invoiced monthly

  • Hours 06:00 to 14:00 SAST, overlapping with our Australian team

  • You supply your own equipment and a reliable backup for power and connectivity

Why people love this role:

  • Fully remote, with an early start and your afternoons free

  • Real ownership of social creative across a whole group of brands

  • A small, close team: daily stand-up, daily catch-up with the Head of Marketing to start, and senior creatives to learn from

  • Interesting subject matter that changes from beauty to wildlife to photography in a single day

Why people stay:

  • Performance reviews at six and twelve months, with strong performance very likely reflected in both scope and rate

  • A growing team where the role grows with it

  • You get to build the look of brands people genuinely love learning from
