The Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for the design and layout of automatic sprinkler systems, producing detailed design drawings, performing hydraulic calculations, and supporting projects from concept through to installation.
Working closely with project managers, engineers, and clients, you will ensure sprinkler systems are designed efficiently, accurately, and in accordance with project requirements.
Key Responsibilities

Design automatic sprinkler systems for commercial, industrial, residential, and mixed-use developments.

Perform hydraulic calculations to determine system requirements and performance.

Calculate and size sprinkler pipework and associated components.

Produce detailed sprinkler layouts and design drawings using AutoCAD.

Develop equipment schedules, design documentation, and technical submissions.

Review architectural and building plans to develop effective sprinkler solutions.

Coordinate designs with project teams and other building services disciplines.

Assist with material take-offs and equipment specifications.

Support project delivery from design through to installation and commissioning.

Provide technical support to project teams and clients as required.
Candidate Requirements
Our client is keen to speak with candidates who have:

Previous experience in sprinkler system design.

Strong understanding of hydraulic calculations and pipe sizing principles.

Experience designing wet, dry, pre-action, or deluge sprinkler systems.

Proficiency in AutoCAD.

Ability to interpret construction drawings and specifications.

Strong technical and analytical skills.

Excellent attention to detail.

Ability to work independently within a remote team environment.

Strong communication and organisational skills.
Desirable Experience

Experience using Revit (beneficial but not essential).

Experience with hydraulic calculation software.

Background in Fire Protection Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Building Services, or related disciplines.

Experience producing BIM models and coordinated designs.

Knowledge of fire suppression systems including sprinklers, hydrants, hose reels, or water mist systems.

Relevant engineering qualification or industry certification.
