THE ROLE: DESIGN MANAGER – WASTEWATER TREATMENT

The Design Manager – Wastewater Treatment will lead the delivery of wastewater treatment projects from feasibility through to detailed design and construction support.

The role is responsible for managing multidisciplinary engineering teams, overseeing technical governance, engaging with clients and stakeholders, and ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and in accordance with programme and budget requirements.

The position involves close collaboration with internal teams, clients, contractors, and regulators to develop innovative and sustainable wastewater treatment solutions.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Lead multidisciplinary design teams across wastewater treatment projects.
  • Manage project delivery, programme, budget, quality, and technical compliance.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineering teams.
  • Review and approve engineering deliverables.
  • Act as the primary technical interface with clients and key stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with industry regulations, client specifications, and company procedures.
  • Promote a positive safety culture and ensure compliance with CDM regulations.
  • Support business development activities, framework management, and proposal preparation.
  • Identify opportunities for innovation, continuous improvement, and digital delivery.
  • Support the development and implementation of company growth strategies within the water sector.

Desired Experience & Qualification

  • Experience leading multidisciplinary design teams across wastewater treatment projects.
  • Experience managing project delivery, programme, budget, quality, and technical compliance.
  • Ability to provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineering teams.
  • Experience reviewing and approving engineering deliverables.
  • Experience acting as the primary technical interface with clients and key stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of industry regulations, client specifications, company procedures, and CDM regulations.
  • Experience supporting business development activities, framework management, and proposal preparation.
  • Ability to identify opportunities for innovation, continuous improvement, and digital delivery.
  • Experience supporting the development and implementation of growth strategies within the water sector.
